The Kiwanis Club of Waynesboro set up its own charitable foundation so it could have a separate, legitimate charitable entity be the beneficiary of its fundraising efforts. Having a 501(c)(3) in the United States allows donations to club fundraising efforts to be tax-deductible. The Kiwanis Club of Waynesboro Foundation was approved by the IRS as a Public Charity on February 27, 2019. The Foundation’s EIN number is 83-3920420. All contributions go to support the children of greater Augusta County.
Community Financial Support When it comes to financial support, our club is responsible for the distribution of approximately $50,000 each year back to the community. Over the last three years, we have contributed these funds to over 45 local agencies or programs in Waynesboro and Augusta County.
We give $1,000 scholarships to a student at Fishburne Military School and Waynesboro High School. We also have a $130,000 endowment at Blue Community College where $5,300 in scholarships are awarded annually to deserving students from this area. We also have $300,000 in endowments with the Community Foundation where $10,000 in grants are awarded annually.
